The days of shopping for clothes, jewellery and makeup in different places is over. Why, I hear you ask? And Other Stories. Launched in 2010, And Other Stories is the sister store of H&M and COS. It has been labelled as "a one-stop styling destination filled with collections from three design ateliers in Paris, Stockholm and Los Angeles."
And yet, their gorgeous Parisian-style dresses and earrings are not what I am here to praise today (although you should make it your quarantining duty to check those out). Instead I am here to discuss their beauty and skincare products.
At the ridiculously good prices of £6 & £8, these products have completely altered the way I approach nail polish and colour. They last longer than most drugstore products and their colours are timeless and trendy at the same time. The packaging is simple and classy, and the bottles are normally displayed next to products in the same, or matching, colours (such as bags, jumpers, etc.) which makes shopping even easier. The brush shape is flat and thick, meaning that it picks up the right amount of product and doesn’t leave streaks on your nails. The actual liquid is highly pigmented, too. I have ditched more traditional nail varnish brands in favour of And Other Stories – highly recommend!
Lipsticks, eyeshadows, blush and foundations – the And Other Stories makeup range has it all. I am an absolute sucker for their glorious lipsticks and my personal favourite makeup 'hack' is using them as a blusher. Their creamy, rich consistency practically melts into the skin, and makes for gorgeously glowing cheeks (not to mention, if you then apply the lipstick as you normally would on your lips too, you get a perfectly co-ordinated look!). I have yet to test out the other products myself, but my mum vouches for their bronzer and eyeshadow palettes; the small compact with four corresponding colours makes for a very easy eye look, with great results every time.
FRAGRANCES & CANDLES
A fragrance for every mood you could wish for. Sicilian Sunrise, Arabesque Wood and Miami Muse might sound like cocktails or aesthetically pleasing Pinterest boards but actually they are a couple examples of And Other Stories’ huge fragrance lines. With the smaller roll-on perfumes coming in at a hugely reasonable £13, these are a must have. Their candles are often designed to compliment the aforementioned perfumes… so there’s no reason to not try them!
Finally, perhaps the hidden gem of And Other Stories’ beauty line, is the collaborations they have in their skincare department. The first are Klairs and Wishtrend, both innovative Korean cosmeceutical brands developed specifically for sensitive skin. Their facemasks are incredible – my favoruite being Wishtrends’ moisurising mask, which transformed my tired “Fresher’s Skin” when it was in desperate need of a pick-me-up. Next up is another popular luxe Korean beauty brand, Huxley. With the deeply hydrating and antioxidant-rich prickly pear seed oil, their products focus on caring for urban skin problems, often caused by air pollution and stress. Whilst I can’t admit to having tried their products, the reviews speak for themselves. I think I’m most interested in giving their anti-gravity cream a go, for the perhaps obvious reason of, what do they mean by that!? And Other Stories have collaborated with a couple of other brands, too – but I think you should check them out for yourself. You won’t regret it!
So, what are you waiting for? Get shopping and try them out for yourself!
